Hardware Test Engineer
Department

We are looking for a hands-on, detail-oriented Hardware Test Engineer with experience in OSFP modules and high-speed interconnects. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and executing test plans to validate the electrical, thermal, mechanical, and functional performance of OSFP THz modules, ensuring compliance with industry standards and internal design specifications.

Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
Full-time
Key Responsibilities

· Design and execute comprehensive hardware validation test plans for 1.6T THz OSFP cable assemblies and transceivers.

· Perform high-speed electrical measurements (eye diagrams, BER, jitter, etc.) using oscilloscopes, BERTs, and other test equipment.

· Validate module performance against MSA and IEEE standards (e.g., OSFP MSA, IEEE 802.3).

· Conduct functional, thermal, signal integrity, and power integrity tests across voltage and temperature ranges.

· Automate test scripts and data collection using Python, LabVIEW, or similar tools.

· Set up and maintain test infrastructure including host systems, fixtures, and environmental chambers.

· Analyze test results, identify failures or margin issues, and work with design and FA teams to root cause and resolve.

· Document test procedures, test results, and create detailed validation reports.

· Collaborate with cross-functional teams including design, firmware, reliability, and manufacturing to support new product introduction (NPI).

Required Qualifications

· Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.

· 5+ years of experience in hardware testing of high-speed interconnect products.

· Familiarity with OSFP or similar pluggable form factors (e.g., QSFP-DD, OSFP-XD, CFP).

· Experience using lab equipment such as high-speed oscilloscopes, BERTs, TDRs, and thermal chambers.

· Solid understanding of high-speed signaling concepts (e.g., PAM4, NRZ), signal integrity, and relevant compliance testing.

· Proficiency in scripting and automation tools (Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW, or similar).

· Strong documentation and data analysis skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

· Experience with 400G/800G testing, FEC margin analysis, and compliance to IEEE 802.3bs/cd/cr.

· Familiarity with pluggable module diagnostics via I2C/MDIO (e.g., CMIS or DOM monitoring).

· Hands-on experience testing high speed transceivers in networking environments or host systems.

· Experience working in fast-paced product development or NPI environments.

· Knowledge of thermal and reliability validation (e.g., HTOL, TC, vibration, humidity testing).
